Uncle Kaipo Kaneakua was born and raised in Kahili valley on the island of Oʻahu in a family of 7 children. His family members mastered the ancient Hawaiian traditions of Kupuna and Huna. Everything is perpetuated and passed down by word of mouth. Each of his family Kupuna specialized in different diseases, ways of healing, and methods of treatments. Kaipo had 16 family Kupunaʻs to learn from on Molokai, Kauaʻi, Niʻihau, Big Island and Oʻahu. These ancient teachings originated on Molokai, Kauaʻi and the Big Island. His main Kupunaʻs were his grandmother Elizabeth Koaʻhou-Kahui (Molokai) and father Joseph Kanekua (Kauaʻi).
